Old sewing cabinets still have plenty to offer

Hi there!

I find it hard to pass up an old sewing cabinet. Even without the machine, there’s usually something worth saving! This week, I’m sharing a few archive finds that found a new purpose.

Sewing Cabinet Turned Secretary Desk
A few additions gave this old cabinet a whole new look. And the inspiration? Dollhouse furniture, of all things!

Navy Blue Sewing Cabinet Makeover
This was supposed to be a quick makeover. Famous last words! The navy-and-wood combination was worth it, but it took a little patience to get there.

Sewing Cabinet Side Table
A rough top didn’t stop this cabinet from becoming a useful little table. I reused the original lid and gave it a red-and-black finish.

While you’re visiting these projects, look for the links to more sewing cabinet ideas. I’ve worked on quite a few over the years, and you might find just the idea for one you’ve been holding onto!

In Case You Missed It
My Vintage Side Table Makeover is ready for a visit. I’m really happy with how the dusty blue and dark glaze came together.

a collection of simple wall shelf ideas

Happy Friday! Sometimes I want to make something without turning it into a big production. A small wall shelf is a great weekend project, especially when you can use pieces you already have. Before heading to the store, take a look through your leftover wood or that old furniture you’ve been saving for parts. You might have the makings of one of these! a very vintage footstool

Hi friends! I found the perfect little footstool for my camper, but it needed a bit of a makeover before I brought it inside. I gave it a fresh coat of paint and used a Happy Camper T-shirt that was too small for me. Now it’s just right for propping up my feet while I work on my laptop. Lulu Mae found a use for it, too! 🐾 See the small footstool makeover While you’re there, be sure to check out my other footstool makeovers for more ideas! gail
